Collins endorsed by BIW unions

All four labor unions at Bath Iron Works today announced that they have voted to endorse United States Senator Susan Collins in her bid for reelection.  These unions, represent more than 4,000 shipbuilders, draftsmen, designers, clerical and technical workers, security guards, and fire fighting professionals at the yard.  This marks the first time that these local unions have issued a joint endorsement and the first time they have endorsed a Republican candidate for federal office.

COLLINS CAMPAIGN TO REPORT MORE THAN $3.6 MILLION CASH-ON-HAND

BANGOR, MAINE - The Collins for Senator campaign will report raising more than $877,000 for the first quarter of 2014, bringing the total raised for Senator Susan Collins’ reelection campaign to more than $4.5 million. The latest totals bring the campaign’s cash-on-hand to more than $3.6 million.

The Collins for Senator campaign today submitted nominating petitions with the Maine Secretary of State’s office. The petition signatures were formally accepted and filed by the Secretary’s office, officially placing Senator Collins’ name on the ballot.

Alzheimer’s unit tour

The Maine senator’s goal is $2 billion in the next five years, saying ‘what an investment it would be.

U.S. Sen. Susan Collins spent Wednesday morning touring the Alzheimer’s unit of Bay Square, an assisted living facility in Yarmouth, where she met a woman who served in the same sorority as her mother. She met another who recently celebrated her 100th birthday. She passed a group doing light calisthenics and another group doing puzzles.
