Collins Campaign Reports Nearly $4 Million Cash On Hand

Campaign has already raised more than her entire 2002 campaign

Portland, Maine - January 30, 2008 – Senator Susan Collins today reported that she had raised $4.564 million as of December 31, 2007 with a cash on hand total of $3.913 million. The announcement came as the campaign filed its FEC report for the fourth quarter of 2007 (October 1st – December 31st), which showed that she raised $963,073 during that period.

Senator Collins raised $4.261 million for her entire 2002 campaign, a figure which set a record for a Maine election. The more than $4.5 million she raised through the end of last year for her 2008 campaign establishes a new record for the state, a full 11 months before the election.

“Senator Collins is very grateful for the support that she has received,” said Elissa Davidson, campaign spokesperson. “We have already seen that out-of-state special interest groups are going to spend vast amounts of money in Maine attacking Senator Collins. The money she has raised for her reelection effort will allow her to wage a vigorous, issues-oriented campaign in response.”
