Collins is an independent choice for U.S. Senate

Kennebec Journal - The 2008 election comes at a critical time in the history of the United States and the world. I strongly endorse Susan Collins for U.S. Senate because I believe she is the candidate best able to address the profound challenges we face as a country. I trust her integrity and independent voice, moving outside the partisan politics of the current Congress.

Sen. Collins has always put the needs of her constituents first and remained outside the Beltway mentality of business as usual. She has continuously submitted legislation based on the need of our state and country, displaying unprecedented integrity.

Sen. Collins has consistently championed the improvement of the federal government, from reforming the intelligence community, founding of the Senate Diabetes Caucus and leading an inquiry into the government response to Hurricane Katrina.

By reelecting Collins, Maine can show its independent spirit to our country and the world, respect for individual differences, compassion for the underprivileged and strong resolute leadership.
