AFL-CIO union representing nearly 25,000 workers cites Senator’s “tireless advocacy” for working class families

LABORERS’ UNION ENDORSES COLLINS FOR RE-ELECTION

 

BANGOR – The Massachusetts & Northern New England Laborers’ District Council of the Laborers’ International Union of North America, AFL-CIO today endorsed Senator Susan Collins’ re-election to the United States Senate.

 

The union, which represents nearly 25,000 general construction laborers and public employees, said in a letter to Senator Collins:

 

“Your tireless advocacy of issues and protections benefiting working class families has been commendable. We are confident that your passion and commitment to these issues will best serve the interests of our members and all hard working men and women in Maine.”

 

The Laborers’ endorsement is the latest in growing series of union endorsements for Senator Collins. So far this election cycle, she has also been endorsed by:

-       International Union of Painters & Allied Trades (IUPAT, AFL-CIO) District Council #35

-       Local S/6 Industrial Union of Marine & Shipbuilding Workers of American / IAMAW- AFL-CIO

-       Local S/7 International Association of Machinists IAM- AFL-CIO

-       International Association of Machinists District 4 IAM-AFL-CIO

-       Independent Guards Association Bath Iron Works

-       Bath Marine Draftsmen’s Association United Auto Workers Local 3999 (UAW- AFL-CIO)

 

“The endorsement of the Laborers’ Union is such an honor,” said Senator Collins. “I appreciate their support, and I look forward to continuing my work on behalf of the people of Maine.”
