Bus tour: Low's Variety in Bonny Eagle

The Collins for Senator campaign bus is rolling through Maine today, and made the first stop at Low's Variety Country Store in Bonny Eagle.
It's a crisp morning, but that didn't deter a big crowd from welcoming Senator Collins.

Bus Tour: The Greater Portland Area

Today Senator Collins made two stops to meet with both the employees of UNUM and Hannaford Brothers . At each stop the Senator spoke with numerous supporters who had questions and well wishes for the final days of the election.

Bus Tour: Westbrook and South Portland

This morning the Senator stopped for breakfast at Guidi's Diner in Westbrook. It was the prefect place for the Senator to chat with her constituents and have a wonderful blueberry muffin. After breakfast, Senator Collins headed over to Disability RMS for a tour. Following the tour the Senator drove to the South Portland Community Recreation Center for a meet and greet before the Bingo festivities began. The weekly Bingo group was excited to speak with the Senator and to show her their creative Halloween costumes.

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk to Cure Diabetes

Yesterday, Senator Collins stopped by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk to Cure Diabetes in Portland and spoke before the start of the event. Senator Collins is the founder of the Senate Diabetes Caucus and diabetes research is very important to her. She expressed gratitude to all of the events organizers and walkers for their help in finding a cure.

Cumberland Fair

Yesterday, Senator Collins and about twenty staff members and volunteers attended the opening day of the Cumberland Fair. Despite the weather, a large crowd was present to enjoy the fair festivities and to see the Royal Canadian Mounted Police preform a musical ride. Senator Collins strolled through the fair sampling the wonderful food and greeting Mainers. Later, on stage, she welcomed everyone to the fair and introduced the Royal Canadian Mounted Police preformance. Watching the beautiful horses and their riders was a great way to kick off the fair.


Debate: Temple Beth El

This morning Senator Collins participated in her first forum with Congressman Tom Allen at Temple Beth El in Portland. Attendees submitted questions for the candidates to answer. Senator Collins was asked about the financial crisis, nuclear proliferation, the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, The Employee Free Choice Act, health insurance and the energy crisis. These types of forums offer Mainers the opportunity to hear Senator Collins' stance on important issues affecting their lives.

Bus Tour: September 6th & 7th

Saturday morning, despite the light drizzle, the Collins for Senator Bus left Portland and headed to North Yarmouth for the North Yarmouth Fun Days Parade. Senator Collins donned a poncho and joined her twenty or so supporters as she walked down the street to the sounds of the North Yarmouth community band.
