Scarborough's 350th Anniversary and the Norway Sidewalk Art Festival

What a great day! Along with a huge group of volunteers, including several firefighters, I marched (ran actually!) in the parade celebrating Scarborough's 350th anniversary. Wearing a straw hat with a Susan Collins bumper sticker, my campaign co-chairman, Mert Henry, rode in a dashing old red convertible. The volunteer Scarborough anniversary committee did a fabulous job of organizing the parade which had countless floats, bands, and scouts.

Later in the day I went to Norway to meet with local artists and to tour the Sidewalk Art Festival, which had a truly impressive array of art in all different media. During my visit to Norway, I saw many old friends such as the Shoreys, the Grovers, the Suttons, the Barths, Rick Bennett and his daughter Abby, the Brunos, the Polks, and Becky Kendall as well State Senator Dave Hastings.

Before returning home to Bangor, I dropped in to visit Rosemarie Lane at Stephens Memorial Hospital. Rosemarie has been active in representing the VFW and is someone whose advice I rely on when it comes to veterans' issues. Unfortunately, she has been very ill, and I was glad to be able to spend a little time with her.
