Rep. Gideon supported 86 different tax and fee hikes on Mainers
Senator Collins cut taxes for 90% of Maine taxpayers
Members of the press:
Sara Gideon supported higher taxes and fees on Mainers 86 times during her time in the state legislature. The taxes and fees would have meant $167 million worth of higher taxes on Mainers.
This list should make clear the extent to which Sara Gideon has gone to raise taxes.
This list does not include Gideon’s time on Town Council, during which she raised property tax rates 20 percent while her family business wasn’t paying its own property taxes.
It also doesn’t account for her current tax plan, which includes overturning the 2017 tax cuts, which lowered taxes for 9 of 10 Maine taxpayers. Gideon’s tax plan also includes re-instituting the individual mandate. 80% of the people who paid this tax made less than $50,000 a year. A single mother making $35,000 per year would have to pay more than $1,000 extra because of Sara's position.
It’s simple: Susan Collins cuts taxes. Sara Gideon raises them.
